1) HexaMid — plain scale — 17 seconds
2) HexaMid — embellished scale — 16 seconds
3) HexaMid — sound sample, rhythmic — 156 seconds
4) HexaMid — sound sample, calm — 152 seconds

You may enjoy a sound sample or tonality loop as sound mantra for contemplation or meditation, for upliftment and focusing, or simply as soothing background sound for relaxation and regeneration.

  • Hexatonality matrix: There are two common and two exceptional interval distributions within the octave of hexatonalities in the catalogue. The two common distributions are: 1) one Reach step, four whole steps, and one single half step (or semitone); and 2) two Reach steps, two whole steps, and two half steps. The two exceptional interval distributions include: 1) three Reach steps, no whole step, and three half steps; and 2) one augmented Reach step (spanning four half steps), three whole steps, and two half steps.
  • BluNa / (Lo)Mid tonality matrix: The lower tetrachord consists of the first few Na(tural) harmonics (i.e. quint and major third) with the addition of the Blu(esy) minor third. Mid tonalities further include the minor (Lo) or major second, which emphasizes the Reach step over the middle (Mid) of the scale. In this particular group, the hexatonalities are fundamental and corresponding heptatonalities are their derivatives and more delicate to use. (See table below.)
  • HexaMid: The name indicates that this is a Mid hexatonality with the major second and in the upper trichord the minor seventh.
  • Step pattern: Ascending from the fundamental (tonic or Do), a whole step leads to two consecutive half steps followed by two consecutive Reach steps. Then comes another whole step that leads up to the octave.
  • Scale intervals: Major second, minor third, major third, quint, minor seventh.
  • Tetra- or Trichords: The lower tetrachord is Mid and the upper trichord is PentaMin.
  • Harmonic axes: There is one axe that is tilted, ES-WN.
  • Primary harmonic anchors: The fundamental or North anchor and the East Anchor are both partial with their head and right leg only. The West anchor is partially present with only its two legs but no head. The contrast or South anchor is completely absent.
  • Secondary harmonic anchors: There is one secondary anchor, SW. It strengthens the fundamental or North anchor and to a lesser degree the West anchor.
  • Moduation potential: Hexatonalities can facilitate modulations. HexaMid is closely related to PentaPro/PentaNa, other Mid tonalities, etc. Its heptatonality derivatives are MidReachMin and MidReachMix.
