Characteristics
- Pentatonality matrix: The octave of a regular pentatonality includes two Reach steps, three whole steps, and no half step (or semitone). One or two consecutive whole steps frame and separate the two Reach steps. A clustered pentatonality has two consecutive Reach steps and three consecutive whole steps. Some further basic pentatonalities contain three Reach steps, at least two of them consecutive. And extended pentatonalities include a double whole step plus one or two Reach step
- PentaBluMix: The name indicates that this is a pentatonality consisting of PentaBlu lower pitches along with a DorMixolydian upper tetrachord.
- Step pattern: Ascending from the fundamental (tonic or Do), a regular Reach step leads to an augmented Reach step. Then follows a whole step and a half step. Finally a whole step leads up to the octave.
- Scale intervals: Minor third, quint, major sixth, and minor seventh.
- Tetra- and trichords: The lower trichord is PentaBlu and the upper tetrachord is DorMixolydian.
- Harmonic axes: There is one axis that is horizontal, E-W.
- Primary harmonic anchors: The fundamental or North anchor and the East anchor are both partially present with their head and right leg, the West anchor with its head only. The South or contrast anchor is completely absent.
- Secondary harmonic anchors: There is no secondary anchor.
- Penta- to hepta- and hexatonality correlation: PentaBluMix is equivalent to HexaBluMix without quart, HexaCorMix without tritone, or to PhrygDorian, LoReachUpMix / LoCorMix, Dorian, ReachUpMix, or BlueMix without second and quart or tritone. And it is closely related to PentaNaMix, PentaBluMin, and PentaBluMaj.
