Be excited and inspired Or don’t do whatever at all This is a basic requirement And appears hard to meet Without any compromise For things in this world Always have two sides Or possibly even more All to balance individually Separate need from desire Opinions and apparent views From the realities that are All intertwined — so tight Forming rugs to stand on And ideally soar away on Or may weigh one down When attached any way Detached one may float Better yet leave behind In such great moments Explore spirit’s freedom Coming with realizations Beyond making divisions For unity brings together Everyone as one with love In the light and sound let go.
“Perfect imperfection” — one step closer
Quotes by Gurdjieff can inspire and excite
“Two things in life are infinite; the stupidity of man and the mercy of God.”
“In properly organized groups no faith is required; what is required is simply a little trust and even that only for a little while, for the sooner a man begins to verify all he hears the better it is for him… Accept nothing you cannot verify for yourself.”
— George Ivanovich Gurdjieff, as cited on the webite Quotes by Gurdjieff (English version)
Measure by consciousness And find spiritual friends Testing what’s really real Going beyond surfaces Into the depth of realities One to another so different While sharing the essence The very present moment Elusive common fulcrum The silence and sound All the light and love Touch opening hearts And soften those closed Decelerate perceptions Dissolve all the movies In one’s head and mind Experience beyond talk The silence in full volume Turned way up to be so soft Contributing consciousness Space for breathing in and out And the moment in between Not merely for acceptance But embracing the love Overflowing gratitude As God realizes itself And all have part in it Conscious of the divine And the spirit of soul.
“Consciousness” — the only state worth considering
What is consciousness, to measure by?
Consciousness, at its simplest, is awareness of internal and external existence. However, its nature has led to millennia of analyses, explanations and debate by philosophers, theologians, and all of science. Opinions differ about what exactly needs to be studied or even considered consciousness. In some explanations, it is synonymous with the mind, and at other times, an aspect of mind. In the past, it was one’s “inner life”, the world of introspection, of private thought, imagination and volition. Today, it often includes any kind of cognition, experience, feeling or perception. It may be awareness, awareness of awareness, or self-awareness either continuously changing or not the disparate range of research, notions and speculations raises a curiosity about whether the right questions are being asked.
Examples of the range of descriptions, definitions or explanations are: ordered distinction between self and environment, simple wakefulness, one’s sense of selfhood or soul explored by “looking within”; being a metaphorical “stream” of contents, or being a mental state, mental event or mental process of the brain.
… in Latin … the phrase conscius sibi … translates literally as “knowing with oneself”, or in other words “sharing knowledge with oneself about something”. This phrase has the figurative sense of “knowing that one knows”, which is something like the modern English word “conscious”.
The tonality of the month is ReachMix — a Reach or harmonic heptatonality.
ReachMix, a fully anchored Reach heptatonality, is the tonality of this month of April 2024.This tonality combines a DorMixolydian upper with a regular Reach lower tetrachord. ReachMix is similar to the tonality of the previous month, ReachMin, except that the sixth is now major instead of minor. The basic melodic element (pakad) of the Bairagi Bhairav raga presented last month with ReachMin is still somewhat noticeable in the new ReachMix sound sample above. However, there is a heartfelt expansion to an additional parallel more elaborate resolution pattern onto the lower quint. This highlights the rounded balancing quality of the DorMixolydian upper tetrachord.
You may enjoy a sound sample or tonality loop as sound mantra for contemplation or meditation. This can help with upliftment, purification, and focusing. Or it could simply be used as soothing background sound for relaxation and regeneration. If you care to hum, chant, or sing along, you could use a spiritually charged syllable like Ōṃ / Aum ॐ, or HU, or another mantra syllable that suits you.
What asks Will I live Or will I die A difference Will it make If any at all I live now And love it Fully withal Bodies do die That is a given In tangible worlds Of space and time Beyond however Soul continues In other planes Of existence In light, sound And mostly love With the divine Leading one on Into and out of Any bodies lives In total harmony No matter what One may fight For or against Until detached Then moving on One way or another With or without A given body From a cycle To the next Best peaceful As all can be.
“Breath of life chant” — the answer within
What asks — about outwitting the stars
“A child is born on that day and at that hour when the celestial rays are in mathematical harmony with his individual karma. His horoscope is a challenging portrait, revealing his unalterable past and its probable future results. But the natal chart can be rightly interpreted only by men with intuitive wisdom; these are few. “The message boldly blazoned across the heavens at the moment of birth is not meant to emphasize fate — the result of past good and evil — but to announce man’s will to escape from his universal thralldom. What he has done, he can undo. None other than himself was the instigator of the causes of whatever effects are now prevalent in his life. He can overcome any limitation, because he created it by his own actions in the first place, and because he possesses spiritual resources that are not subject to planetary pressure. “Superstitious awe of astrology makes one an automaton, slavishly dependent on mechanical guidance. The wise man defeats his planets — which is to say, his past — by transferring his allegiance from the creation to the Creator. The more he realizes his unity with Spirit, the less he can be dominated by matter. The soul is ever free; it is deathless because birthless. It cannot be regimented by stars. “Man is a soul, and has a body. When he properly places his sense of identity, he leaves behind all compulsive patterns. So long as he remains confused in his ordinary state of spiritual amnesia, he will know the subtle fetters of environmental law. “God is Harmony; the devotee who attunes himself will never perform any action amiss. His activities will be correctly and naturally timed to accord with astrological law. After deep prayer and meditation he is in touch with his divine consciousness; there is no greater power than that inward protection.”

This March 2024 Tonalibus update announces two new Tonalibus developments, whistle breath and the beginning correlation of tonalities in the catalogue with Indian ragas. Further it touches on two recent concerts and provides an update on sounds and playlists.
Whistle breath and starting raga correlation
During extremely soft mantra chanting, so soft it is more breathing than chanting, in a flowing transition from the syllable HU to OM, a faint, largely involuntary whistle sound can become apparent, whistle breath! This is very subtle but powerful and can aide in finding one’s fundamental pitch. The piece “Breath of life chant” is based on whistle breath.
Tonalibus started correlating Indian ragas with its catalogue of tonalities. A first fruit of that is the correspondence of the Bairagi Bhairv raag with ReachMin / Phrygian dominant.
Two recent concerts with Tonalibus Ulrico
“Kulturzimmer Heimlich” in Bern on 2/17 attrached some thirty folks and resulted in two live concert recordings: — “Fearless floating” — in the flow of life and love — “Open door and heart” — an opportunity to step out
“Hallo Stille” on 3/1 at the festival Stilles Zürich assembled some twenty individuals. All gradually opened up to the experience of silence led by Nicole Keller of Visionshaus. This was supported by gentle 8-string guitar sounds.
