The tonality of the moment is PentaPro / PentaNa — a Pro tonality, prime Na tonality, and clustered basic pentatonality.The name indicates that this is a penta- and Pro tonality (and that the upper trichord is with the minor seventh and no sixth). As Pro tonality, the lower tetra- or trichord is PentaMaj, i.e. wihout the regressive quart. The identifier Pro stands for progressive, Na for natural harmonics. As Na tonality, all pitches are primary or secondary harmonics or overtones.This gives this special tonality a very strong harmonic base.

“Perfect imperfection” with the subtitle “one step closer” is a spontaneous meditative improvisation from March 2024 in a tonality Tonalibus calls IonAeolian or ClusterBal, more commonly known as melodic major, with a touch of Ionian or plain major, on E (164.3 Hz). This composition features acoustic 8-string guitar, embellished by a small dome gong, on a carpet of tanpura. Together with the single “Blessing of Om for all beings” released in late December, this single is a preview of the coming 2025 album “Tonalibus OPQ”.

Om as sacred sound, syllable, mantra, or invocation, represents the essence of consciousness or of the cosmic world. As sonic representation of the divine, it is a basic tool for meditation in the yogic path to liberation. As sacred spiritual incantation you often find it before and during the recitation of spiritual texts, during puja and private prayers. It is part of the iconography in ancient and medieval era manuscripts, temples, monasteries, and spiritual retreats in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. As sacred syllable, practitioners of spiritual paths may chant it independently, before a recitation, or during meditation.

The tonality of the moment for winter 2024/25 is LocorReach.

The tonality of the moment is LocorReach, a Locor / Cor Reach heptatonality. The name LocorReach indicates that this tonality contains the lower Core pitches and in the upper tetrachord a regular Reach-step. Its step pattern is as follows: Ascending from the fundamental (tonic or Do), a Reach step leads to a half plus a whole step. Then follow two consecutive half steps and another Reach step. Finally a half step leads up to the octave. LocorReach is, as other partially anchored Reach heptatonalities of the subgroup Locor / Cor, characterized by containing the minor and major third, plus also the tritone.

Since 2020, Tonality of the Month announcements and Tonalibus Updates appeared mostly monthly, plus Spiritualibus blog posts more or less weekly. All this came in four languages: English, German, French, and Italian. From now on these will appear more sporadically, allowing for increased time away from computers.

Tonalibus listeners on Spotify increased remarkably during the last half year, from 1 to 3 per day and often none, exceptionally up to 5, before May 2024, to continually over 20 by July, then over 50 by September, and over 70 in October, very often clearly over 100, peaking at 137 different listeners all over the planet on October 13.
